UK driving instructors. It is a private diary for a single instructor: your bookings, your pupils, their progress, and the money side of the job. Your pupils do not need the app, an account, or anything to install.

It is in testing now and coming to the App Store. Leave your email on the home page and we will tell you the day it launches, and nothing else.

An iPhone on iOS 26 or later, which runs on iPhone 11 or later and iPhone SE (2nd generation) or later. It is built for the UK and uses UK standards throughout: the DVSA competency scale, the Highway Code, and the HMRC mileage rate.

No, never. Pupils pay you directly by bank transfer, cash, your own PayPal.me or Stripe payment link, or a contactless card through your own SumUp account. The app never holds your money and takes no commission, though SumUp charge their own fee on a card payment. Every payment you record produces a numbered PDF receipt you can send on. On your iPhone, and, when you are signed into iCloud, in your own private iCloud so it syncs to your other Apple devices. Nothing is sent to the developer, there is no analytics, and the only third-party code in the app is SumUp's, used solely to take a card payment if you choose to connect a SumUp account. You can lock the app with Face ID and keep your own off-device backup. See the Privacy Policy.

Yes. With calendar access granted, each lesson is mirrored into a dedicated iOS calendar named after you, so it sits alongside the rest of your day. Access is optional and the app works without it. See Reminders and iOS Calendar.

Set your working hours and travel buffer in your profile. When you select a day, the app shows the times you are genuinely free, worked out from your hours minus the lessons already booked and the buffer between them. Tap a slot to book straight into it. See The calendar and bookings.

You can prepare one note and send it to each pupil individually. It opens each pupil's own WhatsApp or Messages, prefilled with their name and time, so it is personal, not a faceless broadcast. See Messaging pupils.

Yes. Tap to Pay on iPhone lets you accept contactless payments on your iPhone, through SumUp: physical debit and credit cards, Apple Pay and other digital wallets. Connect a free SumUp account once in Settings, and Tap to Pay on iPhone then sits at the top of the payment options. Your pupil holds their card or device to the top of your iPhone. No extra terminals or readers. The money goes to your own SumUp account and bank, the app takes no commission, and you get the same numbered PDF receipt as for cash. It needs a one-time activation and Apple's approval of the payment capability, which is being completed for the App Store release. Pay links with a QR code, cash and bank transfer work regardless. The app never does. The card is read by Apple and processed by SumUp Payments Limited (FCA reference 900700). Driving School Diary records only that the lesson was paid, the amount and SumUp's transaction reference, so it can produce your receipt. Apple does not store card numbers or PIN information on Apple servers, and during a payment your iPhone is designed to stop photos, screenshots and screen recording capturing a card number or PIN.

It gets you most of the way. The tax summary totals a UK tax year (6 April to 5 April) and gives you turnover, allowable expenses and net profit against the SA103S box numbers, an estimate of what to set aside for income tax and Class 4 National Insurance, your figures split into Making Tax Digital quarters, and the mileage allowance compared against your actual vehicle costs. Mileage uses the HMRC approved rates, 45p a mile for the first 10,000 business miles and 25p after that. Choose the cash or accruals basis, add a use-of-home flat rate, and share it as text or a PDF. It is an estimate for your own records, so check the figures before you file, and it is not tax advice. See Business, expenses and mileage.

Yes. Open Settings and tap Load sample data for a diary of example pupils and lessons, and take the guided tour. A banner on the Calendar lets you exit sample data whenever you like, which returns you to an empty diary. Nothing to sign up for and no account to create.

No. Scanning reads the receipt on your iPhone using Apple's own text recognition and, on newer devices, the on-device Apple Intelligence model. The photo and the text taken from it stay on your phone. See Business, expenses and mileage.

Set your cancellation fee and notice period once, and the app recommends whether to charge based on how close the lesson was. You always have the final say. Anything you do charge is treated as money owed, so it shows in your outstanding total, on invoices and in the accountant export. See Cancellations, no-shows and deposits.

No. The day route estimates the driving between your lessons only, because the app does not hold your home address. Adjust the figure before you save it if you want to include other trips. See The day's route and mileage.

Reminders mirror to a paired Apple Watch through iOS if you have notification mirroring on for the app. There is no separate Watch app.

Yes. Paste a CSV of your pupils and the app imports them in one go, so you are not retyping a list on a phone keyboard. See Pupils and profiles.

When your phone is on CarPlay and you have a lesson that day, the car screen shows the pupil and a Start lesson button, then a short list of activities you score one to five with a single tap, so you never handle your phone during the lesson. See CarPlay Lesson Mode.

No. Sign into the same iCloud account and your diary syncs to your private iCloud and restores on the new device. If you would rather not rely on that, export a backup from Settings on the old phone and use Restore from backup on the new one.
