This is a short document because we use almost no cookies. d4vinder.com sets no tracking, advertising or analytics cookies, so there is no consent banner to click through.

The only cookie we set

Strictly-necessary cookies like this one are exempt from the consent requirement under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), because the service cannot work without them.

Third parties

Two things load from other providers, and it is worth being clear about them:

• Cloudflare Turnstile appears only on our admin sign-in page and the Decrypted newsletter sign-up form, as an anti-bot check. It is a privacy-preserving alternative to a CAPTCHA and does not track you across sites.
• Our browser-based tools talk directly from your device to public DNS-over-HTTPS resolvers (Cloudflare, Google, DNS.SB, AliDNS). Those requests go from you to them; they are governed by those providers' own policies, and we never see them.

What we use instead of tracking cookies

To understand rough traffic levels we count page views on the server and de-duplicate visitors using a one-way salted hash computed at the moment a log line is processed. No cookie, no JavaScript, no raw IP address and no profile is created. Only the aggregate counts are kept.

Managing cookies

Because we set nothing beyond the strictly-necessary session cookie, there is nothing to opt out of. You can still clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time; doing so will not affect browsing the public site.
