Privacy Policy

pfAdmin ("the app") is an iOS application that lets you administer your own pfSense firewalls over SSH. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. In short: pfAdmin does not collect, transmit or sell any personal data.

Information the app stores

To connect to the firewalls you add, the app stores the connection details you enter:

Credentials are stored in the device's iOS Keychain (device-only, not synced to iCloud) and never leave your device except to authenticate with the firewalls you configure. Other preferences are stored in the app's local settings.

Information the app does not collect

How the app communicates

The app connects only to the pfSense firewalls you configure, over an encrypted SSH connection. The firewall's host key is reviewed and pinned so the app can detect a changed key. All monitoring and control happens directly between your device and your firewall. Diagnostic data you request, such as logs or a packet capture, is transferred to your device for viewing and stays on your device.

Notifications and background activity

If you enable background alerts, the app may periodically connect to your selected firewall to check for updates, outages, expiring certificates or resource thresholds and post local notifications on your device. None of this involves the developer.

Network Health monitoring

Network Health is optional and off by default. When you turn it on, the app asks your firewall to run a periodic internet speedtest and an active scan of your own LAN. The speedtest is performed by the firewall against a public speed-test endpoint (Cloudflare), so that test traffic travels over your own internet connection, exactly as it would if you ran a speedtest yourself; the app sends no results anywhere. All measurements are stored only on your device, and reports leave the device only as PDF files that you choose to export and share.

Demo Mode

The app includes an optional Demo Mode that fills every screen with built-in sample data so you can explore pfAdmin without a firewall. Demo Mode makes no network connections, requires no credentials, and collects no data.

Data sharing and retention

No data is shared with anyone. The information the app stores remains on your device until you delete a server (which removes its credentials from the Keychain) or delete the app.

Children

The app is a technical utility not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
